Our Story

Lotus Bloom Psychology was founded in 2021 by Dr. Ashley Houchin, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a deep personal and professional commitment to the neurodivergent community — especially individuals with ADHD.

What began as a solo practice quickly grew from a clear and heartfelt mission: to provide high-quality, patient-centered care that truly understands the complexities of the neurodivergent brain.

Shaped by years of training and experience, as well as close connections to ADHD through family and friends, Dr. Houchin recognized a gap in care and envisioned a practice built around thoughtful, relational, and developmentally informed support. As demand grew, so did Lotus Bloom Psychology, expanding in 2023 to include a team of like-minded clinicians who share a passion for helping clients not just cope, but thrive.

Today, Lotus Bloom Psychology is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and context — honoring each person’s unique story while fostering growth, understanding, and community.

Our Mission

We believe that empowered people strengthen their family and community.

Our mission is to provide culturally sensitive, evidence-based treatments that focus on improving relationships. With specialized experience treating individuals of all ages, we are passionate about supporting our clients and providing tools to empower families.

What We Do

Our practice specializes in neurodivergent diagnoses including ADHD and Autism, as well as sensory and learning differences.

We are experienced in treating co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, eating disorders, conflict with family of origin, job-related stress, relationship issues, life transitions, loss, and chronic health concerns. We are knowledgeable about women's health, sex differences in neurodivergent presentations, and we support the queer community.

Our Approach

We approach our understanding of people from a relational perspective, rooted in neuroscience.

We lean on teachings from attachment theory, feminist theory, and mindfulness practices in our work. This means we view an individual as functioning within the context of their family of origin, culture, and current relationships.

We also consider the impact of neurodivergence and explore personal strengths and, of course, areas of growth. As we incorporate mindfulness practices during therapy, we can identify significant feelings in session. Learning to identify our big feelings is the first step toward healing.

The Meaning of Our Name

Pink Lotus Flower_edited.png

"No mud, not lotus." Thich Nhat Hanh

Lotus Bloom Psychology was named in honor of the supportive people in our lives that help us to survive and remain resilient through hardship. Those same people are also the one's who celebrate with us in times of joy and blossom. The metaphor of Thich Nhat Hanh's lotus flower is reflective of the resilience we experience when we feel understood and supported.
